player for Roland’s discontinued expansion cartridges
Back in the 90s when Roland released these multi-layer synth/samplers, several of their expansion cartridges were discontinued early, because they used copyrighted sounds and loops (used in well-known songs of that era). They are still floating around on the used gear audio markets though. Below are the links to the emulation plugin and binary images of the ROM cartridges.

drum machines database and libraries
This website is huge database of vintage synths and drum machines. For each hardware model it lists the available emulations (virtual instruments, Falcon/Kontakt libraries).
sampler
Emulator X is a software-based audio sampler that was produced by E-MU Systems from 2004 and discontinued in 2009. At this point the libraries and the plug-in are abandonware. In terms of flexibility and complexity only few modern samplers are getting close to it. With a very extensive library available, it only makes sense to use it if you want to inject some early 2000s vibes into your music. The plug-in is Windows-only. However, for both macOS and Windows users, the old sound packs also exist as converted to wav (and can be loaded in any sampler), links below.
