emulations for VLC dynamics and Oxford Inflator
Someone noticed that VLC media player has a quite capable audio compressor. And Kiriki coded a free clone of the algorithm. I think the magic resides in the RMS/Peak blend, which changes the speed at which the compressor responds, allowing for more gain reduction without pumping effects. In a way, something similar to an opto-compressor. It’s fully-featured, stable, give it a try.
On the same page you can also find an exact clone of the (in)famous Sonnox Oxford Inflator.
